Why is Passion in Your Work Important?

Aristotle said, “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work”. I can attest to that being true.
The words ‘work’ and ‘passion’ often don’t go together. Your work is what you get paid to do and how you make your living. Passion, on the other hand, is something you do for the pleasure or joy you get out of it. It’s something you love to do – and typically don’t get paid for.
If you can be passionate about your work, then that’s a real win:win! You will always bring your best self to your work, you’ll be more productive and you’ll enjoy what you get paid to do at a level you may not have experienced before.
Interestingly, according to a Gallup research report in 2023, more than 60% of Australian employees who are disengaged are actively looking for another job. These people are not passionate about what they do. Spending the majority of their waking hours at work, these people are simply putting one foot in front of the other just to earn a salary!
If you’re not passionate about what you do, find something to be passionate about in your chosen role or find a job you love.
