What: Shivani is guest speaker at Hunter's High Tea with a Mission
When: Saturday May 7, 2011 from 1pm
Where: Newcastle City Hall |
Shivani will be speaking at Wesley Mission Newcastle's High Tea with a Mission at Newcastle City Hall on Saturday May 7, 2011.
Shivani says she will be telling the 200 expected guests that women themselves are one of the things stopping women from achieving equality and breaking away from subordination to others. She will be providing her tips to inspire women to live passionately so that they may overcome adversity and bring about positive change for themselves, their family and their communities.
"Unless women get clear about their living their own passion, take responsibility for their own lives, and believe in themselves then they will be stoppable and inequality will continue to exist."
Shivani's Mother's Day message to mums in the audience will be "don't be a martyr".
"Mums must find time to put themselves first if they are to be better mothers and live their lives to their full potential."
Shivani has overcome her own challenges to become a successful business woman. Migrating to Australia from India when she was 11, Shivani overcame racism and sexism to successfully settle into a new culture and become a senior executive in a male dominated industry. Realising her success was not her true passion while trekking in Nepal, Shivani risked it all to establish the Passionate People Institute. As well as running her own business, Shivani is a mother of two young children and step mother of two teenage children.
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to challenge and inspire other women to transform their lives and raise funds for a charity helping so many Hunter people."
The now annual fundraiser is held on the Saturday before Mothers Day. Speakers at last year's inaugural event were Skye Bortoli, 16 year old founder of Teens against Whaling, and Naomi Simson, CEO of RedBalloon. Tickets to the event are $40 and can be purchased from http://www.stickytickets.com.au/5141 or by phoning Wesley Mission on 4961 1661.
