Today I was taking my little daughter to the toilet and although she is now fully toilet trained, she likes her mum there and talks through her toilet experience.
She asked me 'mumma do you like pooh?'. My answer as I scrunched up my face was 'No. Its yuck.' She replied with a big smile on here face "I like my pooh. It makes my tummy feel better.'
I reaslied that at that age, she is passionate about everything about herself including her pooh. At what age did we stop being passionate about all of ourselves? I cant remember ever loving myself completely as an adult that I loved absolutely everything about me - everything!
As I reflected on this experience I let her know that everything about her was amazing and lovable. I also decided to tell myself something I have been avoiding about myself and told myself I too was amazing and to try and love all of me. This message may not be one I can stick to 100% of the time just like many things as parents we dont do what we tell our kids but something to reflect on.
Find something about yourself you dont like and imagine your child (or someone close to you that you love) having that and telling them you love them. Now tell you that you love you. Try it in the mirror and see what you get!
I went to the annual frocktober in my suburb yesterday where local shop keepers displayed thier wares. These included clothes, shoes and of course good food and coffee.
There were two girls giving out flyers for Maddi Addi designs who is 14 and is passionate about craft. She started making bows at the end of 2010 and really loved making htem. Then she was making them for her whole family and now its a small business. She does everything herself including putting 'glue on every crystal'. Now she has taught herself how to set up her own website (www.maddiaddi-designs.com).
This is a typical story of a start up business but what is amazing about this story is that she is only 14! She has found her passion at 14 and is dedicated to creating products and growing her own business.
Imagine if we could teach young people to become entrepreneurs at this age? Even if thier passion changes, then atleast thier learning can be applied to thier next phase of life.
I am going to get in contact with Madi and get her to organise some x-mas gifts for a few people I know.
Find out what you love and create a business from it! Then it will attract more money whilst you serve others.
