As I watched the latest Woody Allen film Midnight in Paris last night with my husband on our weekly date night, I loved how the main character Gil wanted to live in the 1920's which he thought was the amazing era rather than in the present time of 2010 when the movie was set.
As he travelled back and forth from the 1920's to 2010, I too wanted to meet some of the literary genius' of that era and travel to that time and be inspired by them and apply to what I am currently trying to do.
As the film was progressing, I realised that I too dream of another time - sometimes prechildren when I had more freedom to do what I pleased with little time restrictions. Although it was a beautiful time, Gil's character reminded me that now too is beautiful and it is unrealistic to want all of the best of the past and all the best of the present (which includes amazing children).
Is it possible if we truly become more present with what we have today that we will have the best of everything available as that is really all there is anyway?
I came home and kissed the kids whilst they were fast asleep thanking them for being here and thought this morning of all the things that I have to forgive and thank the past for getting to today.
Spend 5 minutes today being thankful for something you have in the present today!
Stay passionate!
